Tusker have signed the 24-year-old from Kenya Police to fill the right back hole, with Daniel Sakari having moved in the opposite direction a couple of weeks ago.

Tusker has added another key player to their squad for the upcoming 2024–25 season, securing the services of defender Yussuf Mainge from Kenya Police.

The 24-year-old, who has previously played for both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, has signed a one-year contract with the Brewers, further bolstering their defense ahead of the new campaign.

In an official statement, Tusker FC expressed their excitement about the acquisition, describing Mainge as a "massively talented and solid defender."

The club highlighted his reputation for an uncompromising defensive style and commanding presence on the field, qualities that have made him one of Kenya’s top defenders.

Mainge’s arrival is seen as a strategic move to fill the gap left by Daniel Sakari, who has departed the club, moving in the opposite direction to join Kenya Police.

Known for his versatility and reliability as a right-back, Mainge is expected to bring stability and resilience to Tusker’s backline.

Interim coach Charles Okere shared his enthusiasm for the new signing, emphasizing Mainge's potential impact both on and off the pitch.

"We’re ecstatic to welcome Mainge to the Tusker FC family," Okere said. "He is a game-changer with a proven track record, and we believe his leadership and defensive acumen will be crucial as we aim to dominate the league and secure silverware."

Mainge brings with him significant experience from the FKF Premier League, having previously played for Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. Additionally, he spent time in Europe with a stint at Slovakian club FC Pohronie in 2019, further broadening his footballing experience.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Mainge stated, “Joining Tusker FC is an exciting opportunity for me. I’ve admired the club’s rich history and ambition, and I am eager to contribute my best and help the team achieve its goals.”

Mainge’s signing marks Tusker’s ninth new addition in a busy transfer window that has already seen the arrivals of players like Jacob Onyango, Erick Balecho, and Boban Zirintusa, among others. The club has also promoted youth team midfielder Teddy Odok to the senior squad, reflecting their commitment to building a competitive team for the upcoming season.
