The FKF Premier League leading scorer has ambitions of representing Kenya at the delayed CHAN 2024 tournament having received his maiden Harambee Stars call-up for Mapinduzi Cup.

Harambee Stars striker Ryan Ogam is keen to ensure he seals a place in Kenya’s team for the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) which is expected to kick off next month.

Ogam got his first taste of international football when he featured for Kenya in their opening match of the Mapinduzi Cup on Saturday as Francis Kimanzi’s men drew 1-1 with Burkina Faso.

The Tusker FC striker has been in fine form this season, scoring 13 goals in 11 matches, to surge ahead in the Golden Boot chase with the Brewers level on points with KCB in the FKF Premier League title race.

It is this kind of form that gives the 20-year-old confidence that he can make the CHAN squad for the tournament primed for February 1-18 in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

“My ambition is to make the squad that plays in CHAN in February,” Ogam told Telecomasia.net.

“I know I have the ability and I have worked hard to prove it on the pitch. For me, it is an honour to get such a chance to represent my country and that is what I am working hard towards.

“I know it is not easy as there are also several good strikers around but I will give my best to get the chance.”

Ogam will be hoping to get on the scoresheet when Harambee Stars face Kilimanjaro Stars in their next Mapinduzi Cup match on Tuesday before a clash with hosts Zanzibar Heroes on Friday.

A good performance at the tournament will make him a shoo-in for the CHAN squad given Kimanzi has promised those who show great character and perform well a place in the team.
