Matano hopes charges will cut out mistakes made in their draw with Kariobangi Sharks to get back to winning ways.

Tusker head coach Robert Matano has challenged his charges to fully focus on the league when they play Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday.

Tusker have amassed four points from their opening two games of the FKFPL season and must beat Homeboyz this Saturday to get his charges back on track in the race for the title.

The Brewers, who missed out on last season’s title by a solitary point before being beaten by Homeboyz in the FKF Cup final just five days later, will be eyeing revenge, knowing every point counts based on the developments from last season.

“We did not have any pressure about the league but we are going to cut out the mistakes and be better,” Matano said after his side’s 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks at a packed Ruaraka Grounds.

We just concentrate on the league. We have had ten days (to prepare) and at least we are going to do something better.”

They have had two build-up matches in the past week where they beat National Super League club Darajani Gogo 2-0 at Ruaraka grounds on September 9 before thrashing lower-tier side Kenyatta University 5-0 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the club have made a rallying call that they are seeking to recruit players for their youth team, announcing a two-day trial which commenced on Friday and will end on Saturday at the Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi. The trials are aimed at identifying young talents between the ages of 18 and 20.

In a statement, the club issued a final call, stating, "Final boarding call for all aspiring footballers aged between 18-20. Our Youth Team will be conducting Trials this weekend."

Tusker Youth, which competes in the FKF Division Two League, serves as a crucial pathway for young talents aspiring to reach the senior ranks in the FKF Premier League.
