Okere heaped praise on his players for having the willingess to follow tactical instructions, further waxing lyrical over Ryan Ogam's goalscoring heroics.

Tusker head coach Charles Okere credited his team’s thrilling victory over Gor Mahia on Sunday to his unwavering faith and meticulous preparation. The Brewers’ triumph, propelled by Ryan Ogam’s late-game heroics, extended their lead at the top of the league table to 33 points.

Ryan Ogam, who has been in sensational form throughout the season, was the star of the show. The forward netted twice, including a stunning stoppage-time winner, to secure all three points for Tusker in a fiercely contested clash.

Gor Mahia’s Austin Odhiambo had earlier threatened to derail Tusker’s momentum with a sublime free-kick, but Ogam’s brilliance ensured his side came out on top.

Speaking after the match, Okere, who took over as Tusker’s permanent head coach late in 2024, was full of praise for his players’ discipline and tactical execution. He emphasized the role of faith and preparation in the team’s success.

“I want to thank God for the three important points. Our boys were humble, and they followed instructions,” Okere remarked.

“The Bible says that if you obey instructions, you will be rewarded. Ryan Ogam has made things easier for us, and his performance gives me great confidence as Tusker’s coach.”

Okere revealed that Tusker’s approach was shaped by a thorough analysis of their opponents, ensuring the team was well-prepared to counter Gor Mahia’s strengths.

“We had assessed Gor Mahia. We always do our research before facing any opponent. We knew we had an important point to defend, and securing three points was a bonus.

“I want to thank the fans, the management, and, most importantly, the players. The greater the storm, the greater the task, and they did an excellent job,” Okere added.

The Tusker boss also attributed Ogam’s remarkable performance to his faith, expressing confidence that the player’s form would continue to flourish.

“In life, if you pray, you will get what you want. His faith has given him those goals, and I am sure he will continue to be blessed,” Okere said.

The victory not only solidified Tusker’s position as league leaders but also showcased their resilience and ability to deliver in high-pressure situations. Gor Mahia, on the other hand, remain fourth on the table with 24 points, nine adrift of the Brewers.
