Tusker's surprise venue change intensifies anticipation for their clash with Gor Mahia, promising a fiercely contested match in the league.

Tusker FC have thrown a curveball into their upcoming clash against record league champions Gor Mahia, announcing a change in venue.

Originally slated for Nyayo National Stadium, the clash will now unfold at the revered Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Sunday 22 October.

Tusker have confirmed that the league organisers have moved the match to Kasarani, a ground where Gor supporters traditionally rally in impressive numbers.

The change in scenery heightens the anticipation for this encounter, as Gor Mahia aims to maintain their momentum in the season.

Johnathan McKinstry's formidable squad, with a solid record of three wins and three draws from six matches, currently stands as the second-placed team, trailing behind Posta Rangers.

On the other hand, Tusker, the home team for this fixture, is feeling the pressure after a recent 1-0 defeat to Shabana FC at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

The Brewers are currently seventh on the league table, having accumulated eight points from six matches.

In head-to-head statistics since 2014, Tusker and Gor Mahia have clashed 20 times, with both teams sharing equal dominance with seven wins each and six draws.

Tusker, who play their low-risk league matches at their home ground at Ruaraka, has managed six wins from ten matches in this rivalry, suffering four defeats in the process.

Last season's encounter at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in May 2023 ended in a goalless draw, adding an extra layer of unpredictability to this weekend's clash.

Both teams will be aiming to break the deadlock and secure a crucial victory in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle.

The venue change also aligns with the broader plans of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, as the match is set to be one of the seven games broadcasted on Azam TV in Match Week Seven.

The league, in a communication on Tuesday, confirmed that the KCB FC versus Ulinzi Stars clash on Saturday, October 21st, and a doubleheader on Sunday, October 22nd, including the Kariobangi Sharks versus Muhoroni Youth and the Tusker versus Gor Mahia clash, will be aired on Azam TV.
