The Tanzanian club has issued an ultimatum to K’Ogalo failure to which they will seek legal redress at FIFA following the defender’s failed move early this month.

Gor Mahia could find themselves in trouble with world governing body FIFA after it emerged that Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars have threatened to take legal action over Rooney Onyango’s botched transfer.

Singida have given Gor Mahia a 14-day ultimatum to pay over Ksh5 million being the transfer fee they wired to K’Ogalo for Onyango before the deal fell through early this month.

Gor Mahia had reached an agreement with Singida for the transfer of the right-back to the Tanzanian club late last year but the player later turned down the move, opting to wait until the season to choose from the options that will be available to him.

Singida would demand a refund for their transfer fee of $40,000 (Ksh5.17 million) but up to now, K’Ogalo are yet to pay, leading to the latest ultimatum.

"Our Club wrote to your Club on 3.1.2025 requesting your club to kindly refund the said amount of USD 40,000 since the transfer did not materialise due to your fault,” reads a letter from Singida, sent to Gor Mahia on January 29.

“It is unfortunate that to date, we have not received any response to our letter nor have we received the refund. In the same context, your club is given 14 days within which to pay the outstanding balance of 40,000 USD.

“Failure to do so our club will refer the matter to FIFA for breach of our agreement.”

The last statement of the letter will worry Gor Mahia and their fans as the club has suffered heavy losses before and also been slapped with transfer bans over delayed payment of dues owed to former players who sought legal redress at FIFA.

Gor Mahia had confirmed early this month that Onyango had agreed to join Singida after the two clubs reached an agreement but he made a U-turn days later, leaving his club in a difficult position.
