The Turkish giants could weaken Mikel Arteta’s side, seeking to bolster their squad as the transfer window draws to a close.
Super Lig champions Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jorginho before the Turkish transfer window closes on September 13th, as per The Sun.
Why Galatasaray want Jorginho
The club has been exploring options to strengthen their midfield after failing to acquire Manchester United's Casemiro.
Jorginho has not seen any playing time for Arsenal this season, remaining an unused substitute in their first three matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Despite being behind Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, and summer signing Mikel Merino in the pecking order, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta values Jorginho's experience and depth.
While the North London side are expected to reject any approach from Galatasaray, the Turkish club may believe they can negotiate a favourable deal due to the Italian's expiring contract.
However, the report states that the Gunners remain keen to retain the midfielder's services this season.
What comes next?
Jorginho could start against Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming North London derby on September 15, with Rice suspended and Merino nursing a shoulder injury.
