Barcelona are reportedly targeting a Nigerian midfielder to strengthen their squad ahead of the new LaLiga season.
Real Madrid's signing of Kylian Mbappe has lit a fire under their fierce rivals Barcelona, who are now reportedly interested in signing Nigeria-eligible Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, with the Blues open to a permanent sale if they receive a "good proposal".
Chukwuemeka, 20, has struggled to break into the Chelsea starting lineup due to injuries and intense competition.

Chukwuemeka to Barcelona?
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are clear about their stance on Chukwuemeka's future:
"Let me clarify that for Carney Chukwuemeka... the message coming from Chelsea is very clear... Chelsea have no intention to let the player go on loan. This is the position of Chelsea. Then only permanent transfer in case they receive a good proposal."
Romano emphasized that Chelsea are happy to keep Chukwuemeka, praising his skills and attitude, but would consider a permanent sale for the right offer:
"If they receive a very good proposal, the story could be different... Chelsea at the moment are not keen on a loan move."
Chukwuemeka's contract with Chelsea runs until 2028, with a reported £40m release clause, but according to Football365, the Blues may accept a lower offer from potential suitors.
Meanwhile, the Blues are close to landing Wolves forward Pedro Neto for a fee of around £55m.
Enzo Maresca is continuing to build a team that can challenge at the top of the Premier League and Neto represents an excellent addition to the team.
