The summer window is here and Arsenal's Mikel Arteta is ready to take full advantage of it by splashing the cash to get closer to Manchester City.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Everton and Belgium midfielder Amadou Onana.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Arteta has been a long-time admirer of the 23-year-old, and with Thomas Partey expected to depart this summer, the Gunners have stepped up their interest.

Onana to Arsenal?

Onana made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees last season, scoring 3 goals and providing a single assist.

Any deal is expected to cost Arsenal and interested parties at least £50million, a figure that would represent a significant outlay for Arteta.

While Onana is highly regarded at Everton he has not been at the heart of the plans of Sean Dyche.

He was left on the bench for each of the games in the week that redefined Everton’s season when wins over Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Brentford secured safety.

Everton, who are under pressure to meet the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules after being punished for two separate breaches this season, would be open to a sale of one of their most valuable assets.
