Tottenham Hotspur are making headlines with their latest transfer target, Dominic Solanke.

The North London club, under the guidance of manager Ange Postecoglou, is set to submit a substantial £42.6 million(KES 6.05B) bid for the Bournemouth striker as they aim to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.

Solanke, 26, has emerged as Tottenham's top target due to his striking similarities to Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski.

How does Solanke match Lewandowski?

Based on last season's performance, both players had 19 goals each, although Lewandowski had 5 more assists.

Of the 19 goals scored by Solanke, only two goals were from the penalty spot meaning Solanke had more open play goals than Lewandowski.

Last season, Solanke demonstrated his prowess by netting 19 Premier League goals, trailing only Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer, and Erling Haaland in the scoring charts.

Tottenham’s interest in Solanke comes as they look to improve on their narrow miss of a Champions League spot last season, finishing just two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Postecoglou believes Solanke’s addition could provide the cutting edge needed to secure a top-four finish and return to Europe’s elite competition.

The bid follows reports that Solanke has a £65 million release clause in his contract, which is reportedly only active for top-six clubs.

It remains to be seen whether Bournemouth will entertain a bid below this figure or seek to negotiate a deal.

In addition to Tottenham, Solanke has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, highlighting his value in the transfer market.

While Spurs prepare to formalize their offer, Solanke's potential move could be a significant step in their quest to challenge for major honors and return to the Champions League.
