The Manchester United leadership's decision to terminate their contract with Sir Alex Ferguson has been heavily criticised by an ex-player.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has criticised INEOS for their decision to terminate Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassadorial deal with the club.

Man United sack Sir Alex

Since INEOS took over part ownership of the club and control of the sporting arm, they have begun to restructure the club administratively, and their activity has included cutting costs.

Pulse Sports reported today that in a bid to shred expenditure, the Red Devils leadership has decided to end Ferguson's ambassadorial deal.

After his 27-year stint as manager, which came to a glorious end in 2013, the Scotsman became a global ambassador for the club, a gig that ensured he pocketed £2.2 million annually. INEOS has now put a stop to that, to the chagrin of Cantona.

What Cantona said

The Frenchman who was signed by Sir Alex from Leeds in 1992 reacted angrily to INEOS’s decision, as he thought it was disrespectful.

He took to social media to express his displeasure, saying, “Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at Man United until the day he dies.”

“Such a lack of respect. It's totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever. And I throw them all in a big bag of sh*t.”

Meanwhile, INEOS is preparing for a future without Ten Hag and has prepared a shortlist of two for possible replacements.
