Timothy Ouma has not played for Czech giants Slavia Prague since sealing a Ksh473 million move in January but it has now been revealed what is behind his lack of game time.

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma’s lack of game time at his Czech club Slavia Prague has raised eyebrows among observers in Kenya but it is not becoming clear what is at play.

Ouma, who joined the Czech giants from Swedish side Elfsborg in January for a reported fee of Ksh473 million, has yet to make an appearance for the senior team with just two games played for the second-string side.

It has been over two months since he signed, with his new club having played nine matches during that period, but the Kenyan midfielder has not featured in any of them.

Now, it is emerging that Ouma is still in Kenya since the end of the international break and yet to report back for club duties when all his foreign-based team-mates returned to their respective clubs following the World Cup qualifiers last month.

The midfielder did not feature for Benni McCarthy’s side in their 3-3 draw away to The Gambia on March 20 but started the 2-1 home loss to Gabon three days later and after that game, when everyone else was rushing back for club duties, he remained behind.

According to Mozzart Sport, Ouma remained behind to secure crucial documents that have hindered him from playing for Slavia Prague.

“The club asked him (Ouma) to get the two documents to facilitate the issuance of his work permit in the Czech Republic. He will travel as soon as the authorities furnish him with the two documents,” Ouma’s brother Elvis Noor told Mozzart Sport.

“He applied shortly after jetting in, and it is just a matter of time before he reunites with his teammates.”

The documents in question are a National Identity Card and a Police Clearance Certificate, popularly known as Good Conduct, which according to Noor, must be in place before Ouma is issued with a work permit in the Czech Republic.

“He was never issued with an ID despite turning 18 two years ago. He had been using his passport. We ask those soiling my brother’s reputation on social media to refrain from doing so,” added Noor over the situation of his 20-year-old brother.

The Nairobi City Stars player says his brother has been using his passport for official duties but in the Czech Republic, it is a requirement to have the two documents.
