The Reds' manager was upset with Arsenal's time-wasting during their Premier League draw
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot didn’t hold back after his side’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal, criticising the Gunners for what he saw as excessive time-wasting tactics.
Slot slams Arsenal’s tactics during Emirates draw
The intense match at the Emirates Stadium saw Liverpool claw back twice, with a late Mohamed Salah equaliser that helped maintain their superb start under Slot’s leadership.
However, the Dutchman was left frustrated by what he described as energy-draining delays and even blamed Arsenal’s tactics for his own yellow card.
After a strong start to the season, Slot was upbeat about Liverpool’s ability to compete with a challenging Arsenal squad. But he was clear about his frustrations:
“They kept falling down whenever they had ball possession, and it just took the energy out of the game,” Slot said after the game.
Slot’s blames Arsenal confusion for yellow card
While he admitted he deserved his a yellow in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea, Slot was more defensive about the one he was given against Arsenal.
Slot explained, “I said to Ibou [Konate], 'this is a fucking joke [Referring to Arsenal’s time wasting], and the fourth official thought that I said to him, 'you are a fucking joke', so that's definitely not what I said, but I got a yellow for that, so now I'm on two (yellows), so I have to be careful now."
Slot’s passion on the sidelines has already earned him two yellow cards this season, putting him one away from a touchline ban.
As the season heats up, Slot’s intensity on the touchline might become a common sight, though he’ll now have to tread carefully to avoid an early ban to keep the Reds in the Premier League title conversation.
