Germany's luxurious Euros camp in Bavaria has reportedly been hit with a plague of mosquitoes.

Germany's Euro 2024 stars have come under a stinging attack as their training camp in Bavaria has been invaded by swarms of stubborn mosquitoes.

The uninvited guests have turned the camp into a battleground, forcing players like Antonio Rudiger and Jamal Musiala to run for cover.

According to reports, the combination of floods and unseasonal heat in southern Germany has sparked a rise in mosquito numbers, making them an aggressive nuisance both day and night.

Expert Martin Geier explained as per The Sun, "They are very aggressive, they appear in large numbers, and they sting during the daytime as well as at night."

Die Mannschaft’s head coach  Julian Nagelsmann has also been vocal about the mosquito menace, describing it as an "abnormal plague."

The former Bayern Munich manager mentioned that the team has to ensure some wind is blowing to keep the mosquitoes at bay or retreat indoors if necessary.

"We have an abnormal plague of mosquitos,” Nagelsmann said.

“  We need to take care that some wind is blowing, in order that there aren't too many mosquitos around.

"If that isn't the case, we have to go inside into the office.”

The relentless insects have made life uncomfortable for the Euro 2024 hosts, even causing veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to swap goal nets for mosquito nets in an effort to fend them off.

Neuer, 38, emphasized the importance of keeping mosquito nets shut while relaxing by the swimming pool, stating, "We need to make sure that the mosquito nets are always pulled shut when we are watching games on TV by the swimming pool."

The mosquito invasion of Germany’s training camp in Bavaria follows a recent bee infestation that disrupted their preparations for a match against Hungary.

Germany were held to a 1-1 draw against Switzerland on Sunday night, June 23, as both teams qualified for the round of 16 stages at the Euros, after the hosts won their group with seven points ahead of their Swiss counterparts who finished second with five points.
