Gor Mahia have had five players called up to the national team ahead of Kenya's crucial double-header against Cameroon and their team manager feels it is merited.

Gor Mahia team manager Victor Otieno is pleased with selection of five of the team's players to the national team.

Kenya have a crucial double-header against Cameroon in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Younde on October 11 before hosting them on Monday October 14.

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat released his provisional squad for the games, featuring five Gor Mahia players.

Alphonce Omija, Sylvester Owino, Geoffrey Ochieng', Ronney Onyango, and Austin Odhiambo are the Gor players called up by Firat.

"They merit it. With how they have done and how they have played, they have earned it," Otieno told Pulse Sports.

Otieno was pleased with the exposure the selection brings back to the club.

"It is very good for the club to have these players in the national team. It is good for the standards. It is good for exposure so we are happy," he added.

Gor Mahia have played only one FKF Premier League fixture against Mathare United where they announced their intent with a 4-0 win.

Austin Odhiambo, Shariff Musa, Geoffrey Ochieng and Gedeon Bendeka were on the score sheet for K'Ogalo.
