Arsenal stunned Real Madrid with a dominant 3-0 win, leaving Jude Bellingham admitting they were outplayed and must deliver 'something unbelievably special' in the second leg to stay alive.

Arsenal brought the football world to a standstill with a stunning 3-0 thrashing of Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium.

The loss leaves Real Madrid’s title defence hanging by a thread. The first half was without much action but Declan Rice turned up the heat in the second half, producing two free kicks. Mikel Merino scored the third goal to sum up the night.

Reacting to the loss, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham admitted that they could have even lost by further margins if they continued playing.

Jude Bellingham further claimed that the players were not impressive at all and it would take so much effort before they get back on the grind. He revealed that, however, they will not relent and will be looking to bounce back in the second leg.

“We were nowhere near it, that is the fact and Arsenal were good. Two of the goals are really good free kicks but to be honest, they could have had way more,” Jude Bellingham said as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“But there is a second leg, we are holding onto it, we will need something unbelievably special. You never know, but I can’t come out and say we will give up, it’s not in the nature of the club and the mentality they instil in you.”

Jude Bellingham went ahead to claim that Real Madrid had opportunities to make an impact but failed to capitalise on that, giving Arsenal an easy way out.

He added that Real Madrid were punished for their own mistakes and did not show up as needed hence the heavy loss.

"We had a chance but in these games, you need to create more. Very rarely do you come here and score one and go through,” Jude Bellingham added.

“We just didn’t do enough, got to the final third multiple times but they reacted well and we didn’t do enough with the ball. We are still alive, we still have 90 minutes.”

Real Madrid now have their work cut out as they look to make it to the last four. They face off against Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 16.
