Ex-Tusker coach Robert Matano has dismissed his detractors who claim he uses black magic to win matches.

Former Tusker coach Robert Matano has termed allegations that he uses black magic to win matches baseless.

The veteran coach has made headlines in the past over ‘juju’ use and even had a spat with former AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems over the same.

However, speaking to Radio Jambo at the weekend, Matano, who ended his six-year-stay with Tusker this month, dismissed the existence of witchcraft in his storied coaching career.

“People say I break eggs and write opposing players’ names to instil fear in them. Where do such antics work in this world?” he posed.

“They can also break the eggs and win. Success in football is all about tactics, structures, motivation, and focus. There’s nothing like juju.”

Matano is one of the most successful Kenyan coaches having led Tusker to three Premier League titles over two stints, as well as Sofapaka in 2009 when they were newly-promoted.

The tactician also guided AFC leopards to their last trophy, the FKF Cup in 2017, and it is no wonder he has not waited long for his next job after Sofapaka moved with speed to hire him as replacement for Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno who moved to Gor Mahia.

However, allegations of using witchcraft have always dogged his coaching career and he has moved to with speed to quash the talk.
