The goalscorers in the 1-1 draw between Chelsea and West Ham, Joao Felix and Emerson Palmieri speak after the game.
Despite failing to win on their visit to the London Stadium, Joao Felix was full of praise for his Chelsea team.
The 1-1 draw against West Ham is Chelsea's third consecutive draw, keeping them in 9th place, while for the home side, it is their second in a row, keeping them on 16th, only two points above the drop.
Chelsea draw again
Graham Potter's men started the game on the front foot, showing the level of dominance worthy of the investment in the squad. Atletico loanee Joao Felix put Chelsea ahead in the 16th minute. The lead would not last for long as ex-Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri equalised for West Ham. Both teams had goals ruled out for offside, but neither team could pick up maximum points.
It was Chelsea's third consecutive draw, but goalscorer Joao Felix believed his team played great and controlled the game. He believes that there is so much quality in the team, and the result only helps them become stronger for the games to come.
“I think we did a great game and controlled the game. They scored when we were good but that is football. We had chances to score but we go strong for the game,” Felix said, per the BBC.
“We fought for the three points but I think we are strong for the next match. I feel comfortable playing in that team. There is so much quality it is unbelievable and now we need to fight together and we have everything to do a big rest of the season.”
Chelsea hit by their old boy
Only four games ago, Chelsea fell 2-1 to Fulham, and their former winger Willian was among the goals. Today, it was their former left wing-back Emerson Palmieri who got the equaliser for West Ham.
The Italy international was very happy he got the goal against Chelsea, but he admitted he was still friends with the players on the Chelsea team that he called teammates.
Emerson admitted Chelsea’s dominance, claiming the game was a tough one in which they suffered, but he attributed it to the quality of the opposition.
“We are friends. It is football but without football we are friends. I’m happy for the goal. I can’t explain the sensation but it is so, so good to score against them,” He told BtSports, per the BBC.
“There were a lot of emotions before the game and I score my first goal in the Premier League against Chelsea so I am very happy. Of course I have a lot of respect for them but today I think it is my day.
“It was a tough game. They played very well and we suffered a lot but it is an important point against a big team.
“When you play against the big team with a lot of quality you have to stay with high concentration for the 90 minutes. We feel it is an important point for us.”
Chelsea would now prepare to face Dortmund in the Champions League, while West Ham would play another London Derby, in their next game against Tottenham.
