Fans react to Iwobi’s substitution
Nigerians are pissed with Finidi George after deciding to substitute Alex Iwobi in the 55th minute for Paul Onuachu.
Iwobi was one of the creative outlets for the Super Eagles and made sure the team had more possession of the ball.
However, immediately after he was substituted, the team lost control of the game and attempted more direct passes, which proved to be ineffective.
The team played more loose passes and failed long balls into the final third, which failed to pose any threat to the Benin Republic's defence.
Fans on X seem unhappy with the substitution and have questioned his decision to take Iwobi off the field.
One fan said, “He's putting two big strikers in one game and taking away the creative player!! Una dey see una clown coach?”
Another fan replied, “This is the worst coach the Super Eagles have ever had.”
Another fan commented, "Asin, eh! I am just confused. He now brought in 2 strikers who needed supply.”
The loss leaves the Super Eagles without a win in their last four games and remain in fifth place in Group C.
