In the interview, Varane expressed a desire to remain at Manchester United for a longer period. “At the start of my last season, I wanted to finish there and extend the adventure,” he explained.
However, he acknowledged a shift in his perspective as the season progressed. Despite clinching the FA Cup in his final match, he realized that “the club's project didn't suit me.”

Tragically, Varane’s ambitions were cut short when he suffered a knee injury on his debut for Como during the Coppa Italia.
This injury prompted him to reassess his future in football. “When I got injured on August 11, I knew right away that it was over,” he admitted. “I was sure of myself because I had anticipated it.”
