In the 34th minute of the game, Casemiro was shown a straight red for violent conduct, following a high challenge on Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

Manchester United midfielder, Casemiro, is facing a four-game ban after receiving a straight red card during Sunday's goalless draw with Southampton.

This is his second red card of the season, having been sent off against Crystal Palace earlier in the campaign.

In the 34th minute of the game, Casemiro was shown a straight red for violent conduct, following a high challenge on Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

The decision was initially a yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor, but it was upgraded to a red after VAR Andre Marriner advised Taylor to watch the monitor.

Casemiro will now miss four games for Manchester United, including the FA Cup quarter-final with Fulham next weekend, and Premier League fixtures with Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton.

Erik ten Hag's side face losing the 31-year-old for the following games:

👉🏾Fulham (h) - March 19, FA Cup
👉🏾Newcastle (a) - April 2, Premier League
👉🏾Brentford (h) - April 5, Premier League
👉🏾Everton (h) - April 8, Premier League

This is a significant blow to Erik ten Hag's side, as Casemiro has been a crucial part of the team since joining United in the summer.

The Brazilian midfielder was visibly upset as he left the Old Trafford pitch, and his absence will make Manchester United's already difficult task of progressing in the FA Cup even harder.

While their top-four status is relatively secure, missing a key player in upcoming league fixtures could also pose a challenge for the Red Devils.

However, Casemiro's ban does not include European matches, so he will be available for Manchester United's Europa League clash with Real Betis on Thursday.

He will next be available domestically on April 15 when Manchester United travel to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
