Former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is finding that life in Turkey is no picnic
Reigning Turkish Super Lig Galatasaray wasted no time mocking Jose Mourinho after his Fenerbahce side suffered their first defeat of the season in the Turkish Super Lig.
Galatasaray troll Mourinho with ruthless social media posts
The 3-1 loss, which came in the first Istanbul derby of the season against Galatasaray, saw Mourinho's frustrations boil over as he stormed out of the stadium without attending the post-match press conference.
Following their emphatic victory, Galatasaray took to social media to rub salt in Mourinho’s wounds, posting a series of tweets that mercilessly trolled the former Chelsea manager.
One of the posts featured a photoshopped image of a book titled The Crying One, a play on Mourinho’s famous nickname, ‘The Special One’, with the cover of the fictional book showcasing a Mourinho in tears.
Galatasaray’s trolling didn’t stop there—they even poked fun at the “Mourinho Universe” slogan, which Fenerbahce and their fans had used since the Portuguese manager joined this summer.
Mourinho’s troubles at Fenerbahce
The embarrassing loss to Galatasaray only adds to Mourinho’s woes this season as his Fenerbahce spell looks to be coming off at the seams.
Despite a strong start, Fenerbahce have faced significant setbacks under Mourinho, including being knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Lille, which saw them relegated to the Europa League.
The defeat against Galatasaray, with goals from Dries Mertens, Gabriel Sara, and a Dominik Livakovic own goal, has only added to the pressure mounting on Mourinho, and the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss will no doubt be keen to bounce back.
