Galtier has no time for Nagelsmann's tricks
Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier, has responded to his Bayern Munich counterpart, Julian Naglesmann’s accusations that the Frenchman is trying to use an injury to one of his key players to play mind games.
Nagelsmann believes PSG are being dubious about Mbappe’s injury
PSG’s Kylian Mbappe has been ruled out for up to three weeks after being taken off early against Montpellier, which will most likely see him miss their clash with Bayern Munich, but Nagelsmann belies that it is all a ploy to get him to drop his guard.
When asked about his thoughts on Mbappe missing the crunch tie, the German manager seemed to suggest that PSG were playing tricks with the news regarding Mbappe’s injury and that he would not be fooled by them.
He said “I don’t know what he is suffering from. What they communicated is a bit unclear.
“I’ll prepare for the game as if he’ll play it. Obviously, this can be a poker move.“
Galtier has not taken kindly to those comments, and even though he would have preferred not to dignify Nagelsmann’s comments with a response, he still had this to say:
“I don’t have to respond to him. I read what he said, that’s all. Playing mind games? That’s not our style, and not mine at all.”
PSG set to face Bayern Munich without Mbappe
PSG will take on Bayern on Valentine's day at the Parc de Prince as they look to end their quest for a first UEFA Champions League title, but by all accounts (except Nagelsmann’s) they will have to do it the hard way.
Mbappe is expected to be out of action until late February, and despite what Nagelsmann thinks, the reality is the 24-year-old striker will most likely miss the Champions League fixture, as well as other crucial matches for PSG during the month.
Mbappe already missed PSG’s Ligue 1 encounter against Toulouse and is set to sit out the Coupe de France game against Marseille, as well as the Ligue 1 match against Monaco before also missing the UCL match against Bayern.
