Thibaut Courtois has been commended by Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for keeping Real Madrid in the game in the first half of the Champions League final.

Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday night.

Courtois was instrumental during the final, having kept his team in the game with point-blank saves in the first half.

The Spanish giants became the first team to win 15 Champions League titles since the tournament's inception.

Nnadozie was full of praise for the Belgian shot-stopper after making crucial saves in the first half of the final.

During her post-match analysis on SuperSport, Nnadozie said, "For me, I think that should have been a goal. He (Adeyemi) had a lot of chances to put the ball into the net.

“That's why the coach of Real Madrid brought in Thibaut Courtois because as a well experienced goalkeeper, when there's a 1v1 you don't give the striker the chance to score, you just stay.

"I think he standing there confused Adeyemi and that was a really good one."

The former Chelsea goalkeeper’s season was affected by injuries, as he only made five appearances overall.

However, manager Carlo Ancelotti picked him in the starting eleven for the final, replacing Lupin, who had replaced him.

Real Madrid would have gone into halftime trailing three goals without Thibaut Courtois’s important saves.

Karim Adeyemi, Borussia Dortmund forward, blew a fantastic chance to put the Germans up halfway through the first half.

The winger received a defence-splitting pass from Mats Hummels and attempted to round Courtois, but the Los Blancos goalkeeper chose not to rush out of his line and instead pushed the forward wide.

Carvajal then saw the threat, reduced Adeyemi's chances of hitting the target, and blocked his follow-up shot.
