The former Mathare United attacker has been a regular in Harambee Stars but is currently unavailable.

Harambee Stars midfielder Eric Johana has expressed his feelings after being ruled out of the upcoming friendly match against Iran by an injury.

Apart from Johana, Jonah Ayunga is another player who will not be available for the friendly scheduled for March 28 in Tehran.

Despite his absence, the former Mathare United midfielder has wished the national team well on their upcoming assignment.

"It’s every football player’s dream to represent his/her country," Johana wrote on Facebook.

"I was so excited by the resumption of the national team, and I was so much looking forward to joining up with my mates.

"But unfortunately, I got a setback with an injury, and for this, I can’t be part of the Harambee Stars, but the next time I’ll do my very best to be available for selection.

"I wish the boys the very best and enjoy every moment of it."

The Muangthong United attacking midfielder is one of the most experienced players that are expected to carry the aspirations of the country since the FIFA suspension was lifted.

While Firat made it clear that he wanted the 28-year-old for the Iran friendly, the tactician failed to call up other equally experienced stars like Victor Wanyama, Joash Onyango, and Humphrey Mieno.

With the absence of Johana, Firat will have to draft his midfield for the game from Amos Nondi, Richard Odada, Teddy Akumu, Alpha Onyango, Joseph Mwangi, Kenneth Muguna, Abdallah Hassan, Duke Abuya, Wilkims Ochieng, Moses Mudavadi, Alvin Mang’eni, Hasan Beja, and Victor Omune.
