Ten Hag has already identified replacements for Eriksen within the team
Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has said that the club will not be looking into the transfer market to sign a replacement for injured midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen suffered an injury against Reading
Eriksen suffered an ankle injury as a result of a bad tackle by Andy Carroll during Manchester United's 3-1 FA Cup victory over Reading, and the club has announced that he will be out for up to three months.
However, in the club’s statement, they said, "There is hope that Christian can return in time to play a role in the final stages of the season,” meaning that there will be no need for a new player to cover him.
Ten Hag has reiterated that the club will not be looking at a deadline-day signing to replace Eriksen because any signings have to be for the long term and not only as cover for injuries.
Manchester United already have replacements in-house.
He said there are players in the squad who he expects to fill in for Eriksen in the team, and he was not in favour of a deadline-day deal only to cover Eriksen.
“Something on Deadline Day is difficult, you can't make policy on bad injuries. We have players in the midfield, good players, players who can fill the gap,” he said ahead of United’s clash with Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United still have Scott McTominay and Fred, as well as youngsters Kobbie Mainoo and Zidane Iqbal as possible replacements for the injured Eriksen.
They will be hoping that one of these players can adequately replace Eriksen and they will know that his are big shoes to fill.
