Aurelien Tchouameni has apologised after he was seen attending an NBA game in Paris while Real Madrid were playing in the Copa del Rey.

Injured Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has apologised for going to watch an NBA game in Paris on Thursday while the club played against Villarreal. He was spotted at the Chicago Bulls' 126-108 regular-season win over the Detroit Pistons at the Accor Arena in Paris.

Madridistas took to social media to express their displeasure with his actions. In a statement issued to the fans and the club, the French international apologized for his 'mistake' and accepted responsibility.

“I apologise to my club, to the coaching staff, to my teammates and to Real Madrid fans for attending an event at the same time as we had an important game in the cup. I was closely following what was going on in Villarreal at all times but I made a mistake. I am very sorry," he wrote on Twitter.

Madrid came from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 3-2 at El Madrigal stadium and progress to the Copa del Rey quarterfinals, ending a run of three games in which they have failed to win in 90 minutes.

Way next for Tchouameni

Tchouameni has tendered an apology and although the Real Madrid fans are not the most forgiving, he will likely get another chance and he is good enough to take it. Along with David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, Aurelien Tchouameni is out injured currently. Luka Modric missed the match too, as he was rested by Carlo Ancelotti.

Tchouameni sustained a calf injury during a La Liga encounter against the Yellow Submarine on January 7 and should remain out of action for a couple of weeks. He missed both of Madrid’s Supercopa de Espana matches in Saudi Arabia last week.
