Twiga Stars have intensified training ahead of a friendly match with Kenya.

Tanzania women's national team head coach Bakari Shime believes his side will have to go the extra mile to get a good result in their international friendly clash with Kenya on Sunday.

The Twiga Stars are reportedly set to face the Harambee Starlets away at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Shime has challenged his troops to be their best in the clash and ensure they win the match against their East African region rivals.

"We are expecting a tough match as Kenya have a very strong squad," said Shime.

A total of 30 players were invited for the training camp, and they kicked off preparations on Sunday ahead of the highly anticipated friendly match.

In the squad, Shime included seven players who ply their trade overseas, led by Opa Clement, who plays for Besiktas of Turkey.

Others are Enekia Kasonga(Ausfaz, Morocco), Julieth Singano (Juarez Club of Mexico), Aisha Masaka (BK Hacken, Sweden), Diana Lucas (Ausfaz, Morocco), Fatuma Mwisendi (Nees Atromitou, Greece) and Zuwena Aziz (Nahaj Sous, Morocco).

The experienced coach is expected to name his final squad for the match on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Harambee Starlets players are already at the residential camp at Stadion hotel in Kasarani to prepare for a friendly against Albania that will mark the national women's football team's return to action after over a year.

Harambee Starlets are scheduled to face Albania on April 11 away in Tirana. They are expected to leave the country on April 8 with coach Godfrey Oduor having already named a provisional squad of 33 players for the clash.
