Shitu and Abdalla have been provisionally suspended by FKF over match-fixing allegations

Nairobi City Stars defender Salim Shitu Abdallah has hit back at the FKF Integrity committee’s decision to provisionally suspend him from taking part in the game following match fixing allegations alongside teammate Ezekiel Odera.

On Tuesday morning, Pulse Sports Kenya confirmed that the duo, who were both plying their trades for Nairobi City Stars until the expiry of their contracts at the end of June would be provisionally suspended for alleged involvement in match manipulation practices.

However, a clearly exasperated Shitu expressed his frustration on his Facebook page after the decision, pledging to fight back as his post suggested he was falsely accused of the allegations made against him.

“You went to hunt and killed the wrong animal. You aimed at the antelope and in bad luck killed a cat. Soon you will all know the whole truth,” he wrote on his social media page.

Both players were reported to FKF following internal investigations by the club over claims they arranged for the manipulation of matches against Kakamega Homeboyz, Tusker and Kariobangi Sharks.

Given all the three players were not regular starters at the club, they allegedly approached two teammates to help make sure the club lost by more than three goals in each match, promising to pay them 200,000 shillings for each match.

However, the teammates reported the matter to the club, who in turn acted accordingly by reporting the two veterans to club officials.

The 32-year old defender  began his career at Ligi Ndogo AC in 2011, signing from Bukembe. He also had stints at Sofpaka and Posta Rangers before joining AFC Leopards In 2017.

Salim joined AFC Leopards on a two-year deal. Upon expiry of that contract, he was handed a three-year deal but after only six months he was released by the club.

Shittu joined Simba wa Nairobi in July 2019 and played a big role in getting the team promoted to the Kenyan Premier League at the end of the 2019-20 National Super League (NSL) season.

He topped up on his initial one-year contract and exited the club in June 2022 after featuring in 45 of 68 Premier League games, scoring thrice across two seasons.
