Cassey Phair came off the bench to make history in South Korea’s FIFA Women’s World Cup clash against Colombia.
South Korea’s Casey Phair made history in the early hours of Tuesday morning after breaking Ifeanyi Chiejine’s 24-year-old record at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Phair etched her name into the record books of the Women’s World Cup after coming on as a substitute in South Korea’s clash against Colombia.
Casey Phair breaks Ex-Super Falcons record
The multi-racial teenager became the youngest player to make her debut at the Women’s World Cup at the age of 16 years and 26 days, breaking Chiejine’s record in the process.
Chiejine had held the record for 24 years after making her debut for Nigeria at the 1999 edition, aged 16 years 34 days.

However, her record is now gone after Phair came on for her debut. Phair was born in South Korea to an American father and a South Korean mother, becoming the first multiracial player to play for the South Korea Women’s team.

Unfortunately for Phair, it was a debut to forget as South Korea were on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss to Colombia in their opener.
