Five time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, Onome Obi and Ashleigh Plumptre has called for more investment in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
The Super Falcons Stars made the call during NWFL FIFA Women's World Cup watch Party organised by the Nigeria's Women's Football League in collaboration with LALIGA in Lagos.
Pulse Sports reported that LaLiga are in collaboration with NWFL to develop women’s football in the country.
Asisat has won the African Women’s Footballer of the Year for a record five times. (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022) and she started her football Journey with Lagos based NWFL side Robo Queens before joining Rivers Angels and moved abroad.
The Ikorodu born was one of the players that call for more investment at the party.
The Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi also added her voice, the only African player (male or female) to have featured in six world cups currently plying her trade for the Abia Angels.
She added that, "Nigerians should continue to give more support to the league for better results at the national teams."

Also, the Goal Keeper of the Nigeria women's national football team at the inaugural 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup and 2000 Summer Olympics, Ann Chiejine added, "We are a little behind but with Laliga coming, their will be a lot of opportunities, investment for League."
Delta Queens are the champions of the NWFL.
