Troost-Ekong out of Guinea-Bissau tie
According to an ACLSports report, Nigeria will look to seal another win against Guinea-Bissau without the defender.
The 30-year-old has been one of the Super Eagles' best players so far at the 34th AFCON and played a key role as Nigeria revived its AFCON 2023 campaign against the host nation, Ivory Coast.
Troost-Ekong scored the decisive penalty that helped Jose Peseiro’s men seal a historic 1-0 win against the Elephants last week.
However, ahead of the all-important last group match against a wounded Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria has been forced to a change at centre-back as Ekong will miss the game against the Wild Dogs and is also considered doubtful for the rest of the tournament.
The PAOK Salonika defender reportedly suffered a hamstring injury in that impressive win against Cote d'Ivoire following a decisive clearance in the first half against the Elephants.
Troost-Ekong has been unable to train with the rest of his teammates since the game against the home side having been spotted training separately from the squad.
