The pair spent time together at Arsenal and are now reuniting at Fulham following Smith Rowe's recent move
Fulham’s new signing Emile Smith Rowe received a warm welcome from his old Arsenal team-mate Alex Iwobi as he joined the club’s training activities for the first time.
The Cottagers completed the signing of Smith Rowe from Arsenal for £27 million on Friday in a five-year deal that will keep him at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2029, with an option for a further 12 months.
Iwobi welcomes Smith Rowe to Fulham
During his examination at his new club, Smith Rowe was greeted by familiar faces. Goalkeeper Bernd Leno was the first to enter the room, hugging the shirtless midfielder and saying, "Good to see you. You're finally here."
Following Leno, Nigeria international Iwobi made a more colourful entrance. Iwobi jokingly exclaimed, "F****** hurry up, mate. What you saying? He was enjoying America."
Realizing the presence of a camera, Iwobi quickly added, "You see the swearing. Forget that. Take that out."
Smith Rowe's journey from Arsenal to Fulham
Smith Rowe joined Arsenal's academy at the age of 10 before making 115 senior appearances for the senior team, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists.
His impressive form during the 2021-22 season got him a call-up to the England national squad, where he won three caps and scored his only senior goal in a 10-0 victory over San Marino in November 2021.
However, Smith Rowe's first-team opportunities have been few and far between over the past couple of seasons due to groin and knee injuries, causing him to miss large chunks of Arsenal’s campaigns. As a result, the London-born star saw limited action.
During the 2023-24 season, he made only 19 appearances for the Gunners, starting in just three Premier League games before leaving Arsenal to join Fulham this summer.
