Nigerians have taken to social media to demand the arrest of Super Eagles boss Finidi George after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed plans to hire a new foreign manager following a poor run in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The former Enyimba boss has been under immense pressure following Nigeria's disappointing start to the qualifiers, with the team sitting fifth in Group C after two official matches.

NFF’s Decision on Finidi George
The Super Eagles have managed just three points from a possible 12 so far, with defeats against the Benin Republic and South Africa.
In a statement released after an executive committee meeting on Wednesday, June 12, the NFF apologised to Nigerian fans for the team's "dismal output and very poor returns".

The governing body through President Ibrahim Gusau announced that they had "resolved to employ an expatriate Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks" ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The decision to sack Finidi George and bring in a new foreign manager has not gone down well with Nigerian fans, who have taken to social media to demand the arrest of the former international.

"They should arrest him for criminal charges," said one Twitter user, while another added, "He should be fired, and chased away."
Other fans went even further, with one suggesting that "they should arrest him and whoever recommended him for the Eagles," and another stating, "They shouldn't just remove him, they should as well arrest that man."

The NFF's decision to part ways with Finidi comes as a blow to the former Nigeria international, who was appointed as the Super Eagles head coach in May 2024.
With the team's World Cup qualifying campaign in disarray and the fans calling for his arrest, the future of Finidi's tenure as the Super Eagles boss appears to be in serious jeopardy.
