The 31-year-old's return to the Nigerian Premier Football League was received with much fanfare. He live up to the hype, scoring in the 5th and 52nd minute to help Usman Abdallah's side defeat the Akure Gunners.

key match actions

The Super Eagles captain hinted at his return to the Nigerian top-flight for weeks before the club's coach, Abdallah, confirmed that he and defender Shehu, had been training with the club and were ready to make an appearance.

The Nigerian national team record appearance maker was named from the start and his superior quality was evident as he wasted no time getting himself on the scoresheet.

In the first five minutes, he scored to give the hosts the lead to send the Sani Abacha Stadium ruckus. The four-time NPFL champions threatened for more but had to wait until the second-half for their second goal of the game.

The former Leicester City forward scored again in the 52nd minute, finishing past the helpless Emmanuel Ofori to double Kano Pillars' lead.

Super Eagles legend Segun Odegbami had warned that Musa might not find success in the division, but his impressive start signals that the speculation could not be any more wrong.
