After suffering a setback against defending champions Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars swiftly returned to winning ways with a professional display at home in Ikenne on Thursday evening.
Ogunmodede’s "mentality monsters," as his team has now been referred to, had to dig deep against United to secure the three points.

The match started with Remo Stars applying early pressure. In the fifth minute, Sodiq Ismail beat his marker on the right and delivered a cross to Sikiru Alimi, who unfortunately headed wide.

In the 25th minute, Franck Mawuena thought he had scored with a header from a corner kick, but the referee disallowed it for a foul on the goalkeeper. The first half ended goalless at 0-0.

After halftime, Seun Ogunribide was replaced by Haruna Hadi, and Remo continued to press for an opener. In the 67th minute, Nduka Junior came agonisingly close with a flicked header that hit the bar after good work from Samuel Anakwe, who had won a corner kick.
Finally, in the 79th minute, Remo Stars broke the deadlock when Samuel Anakwe headed home after the goalkeeper spilled Nduka Junior’s freekick.

The victory was sealed in stoppage time when Hadi poked home from close range off a low shot by Ibrahim Shuaib.
