The four-time champions kept their title hopes alive with a narrow win over Bunyore Starelts.

Four-time champions Vihiga Queens extended their winning streak in the Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League (FKF WPL) on Sunday as they pipped Bunyore Starlets by a lone goal.

Janet Moraa’s 64th-minute goal proved decisive for Vihiga as they overcame a resolute Bunyore in a match at Mumias Sports Complex.

The win, Vihiga’s 12th of the 2022-2023 season, saw them remain in second place on 24 points, with a goal difference of one separating them from leaders Gaspo.

Bunyore, on their side, have slipped to eighth place on the log with 19 points from 16 matches played so far this season.

Elsewhere, Nakuru City Queens finally had something to cheer about at Camp Toyoyo Stadium after they pipped hard-fighting Kayole Starlet 1-0 in the match-day 16 tie.

Before the victory over the Starlet, Queens had played six matches with just a solitary win to their name.

The last triumph in the league by Chrispine Wesonga’s charges came in their 3-0 away success against Kisumu All-Starlets.

Jael Salamo’s strike in the 48th minute helped Queens move to complete a double against Starlet, who are deep in the relegation zone.

At Ndula Sports Complex, Gaspo Women maintained their top spot in FKF WPL after returning to winning ways after seeing off Trans Nzoia Falcons 3-1.

Diana Wacera, Mutukiza Wambui, and Emily Okute were the scorers as the Ghost Mulei-coached side defeated the home side, while Elizabeth Nafula got the only goal for the Falcons.

In the other game of the day at Mumias Sports Complex, Wadadia thumped visiting Kisumu All Starlets 4-1.

The victory moved Wadadia to the fourth spot on the standings with 29 points, while Kisumu All Starlets remained eight with 17 points.
