The skipper revealed that he draws his inspiration from his father, who was also a professional footballer.

Strathmore University football captain Elvis Osodo has revealed that his success in class and the field is driven by a number of virtues including resilience, hard work, dedication, and a strong mentality.

The fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Business in Information Technology also revealed that luck is what has helped him juggle between the two for years.

However, he explained that it has not been a walk in the park as there are many challenges he has faced so far in terms of balancing academic responsibilities and sports obligations.

“It has not been easy… sports comes with a lot of challenges. Discipline is essential in the field, and I maintain this even in class. Performing well in both requires resilience, hard work, dedication, a strong mentality, and luck,” he told the Varsity's official portal.

He added that leading the team has not been the easiest of tasks but so far, he is happy with the progress made.

“The rewards of captaining are many, including the opportunity to inspire and lead, the chance to develop valuable leadership skills, and the satisfaction that comes with making a positive impact on the lives of others,” he said.

He also brags about his prowess in the sport and revealed that he could play anywhere on the pitch due to his understanding of the game.

Osodo revealed that he draws his inspiration from his father, who was also a professional footballer. He revealed that going forward, he would like to play professionally in the top leagues.

“My inspiration comes from my father. My ambition has always been to play professionally in the top leagues. We have seen and have an idea of how football can pay, I would really want a taste of that,” he said.

Through football, he said he managed to get a sports scholarship at Strathmore University and he has also gotten a chance to travel to different East African countries.

He also expressed his frustration of being a Kenyan footballer noting that football deserves more attention and support through offering a wide range of opportunities to the players.

“We must invest in our own. There are a lot of talented athletes out there but they lack the platform to showcase their abilities. We should be able to help others without ulterior motives, only then will we prosper as a country,” he said.
