"Instead of spreading negativity, let's show genuine love and support to our players. They need our encouragement now more than ever. Let's uplift each other and stand united, both in victory and defeat."
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi suffered online attacks and jibes from his own Nigerian fans following their 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
The Super Eagles faithful called out and blamed the former Arsenal star for the defeat to the hosts.
Ahmed Musa's net worth and his massive assets put him among the richest Nigeria footballers which makes him important in the Super Eagles team and helps stop the cyberbullying of Iwobi.
However, Nigeria's skipper and legend Ahmed Musa, in reaction to the agony, asked the supporters to desist from cyber harassment, particularly directed at one player.
"Dear fans, I want to please urge you to halt the cyber-bullying directed towards Alex Iwobi," Musa wrote on his official X handle.
"Cyberbullying is not just a violation of decency but also a serious crime. It's hypocritical to claim that football unites us while engaging in such behaviour," he added.
