Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was one of the top revelations and best players at the just concluded AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast, which has now seen him rewarded with millions of Naira for his heroics.
The shot-stopper excelled in all ramifications and was one of the main reasons the Nigerian team got to the final of the tournament, in which they lost 2-1 to the host country - a match described by pundits as one of the greatest in AFCON history.
Stanley Nwabali's fame since AFCON
Despite not winning the trophy and controversially losing the Best Goalkeeper Award to South Africa's Ronwen Williams, Nwabali's fame and recognition have witnessed a meteoric rise not just in Nigeria but in African and world football.
His social media followers skyrocketed as his Instagram followers went from 27,000 at the start of AFCON to 700,000, while on X, he has over 100,000.

The president of Nigeria Bola Tinubu honoured the Super Eagles team for their exceptional silver medal-winning performance in Ivory Coast with a piece of land in the country's capital Abuja, a flat, and national honour of Member of the Order of Nigeria (MON).

The Super Eagles were given a presidential welcome for their exploits at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations.
In addition to this, Nwabali has received $70,700 (N113,120,000), he got $57,500 (N92 million) in AFCON bonuses according to Score Nigeria, and received N20 million ($13,200) from the Rivers State government.
In total, it is about $141,400, which is the equivalent of N226,240,000.
