BUL FC took advantage of Express FC's managerial woes to dump them out of the 2023/24 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

A day to the Round of 16 encounter, the Red Eagles, for the umpteenth time in a space of less than a month, lost head coach Alex Isabirye.

Club legend and assistant coach Hassan Mubiru was on the touchline on an evening that won't last long in their memories.

After playing out a one-all stalemate, BUL reigned supreme in the post-match penalty kicks, winning them 4-1, at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, on Sunday.

Following a cagey 85 minutes, BUL broke the deadlock in the 86th minute through Ibrahim Mugulusi, before Edgar William Katumba levelled for Express.

Into the spot-kicks, Lawrence Tezikya, Benon Tahomera, Ibrahim Kazindula and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa scored for BUL.

On the other hand, Mutakubwa saved from Marvin Oshaba, while Isa Lumu skied his, with John Asiimwe, the only scorer for the record 10-time winners.

With the victory, BUL joined Kitara FC and FUFA Regional League side Pajule Lions in the quarterfinals of the 50th edition of the Uganda Cup.
