Moses Sseruyidde scored the only goal of the pretty tense game with a superb free-kick in the 62nd minute at the Kigaaya Primary School Playground.

Kitara FC edged fellow FUFA Big League promotion hopefuls Police FC 1-0 to regain top spot in the second devision on Friday.

Moses Sseruyidde scored the only goal of the pretty tense game with a superb free-kick in the 62nd minute at the Kigaaya Primary School Playground.

The Royals, under the guidance of Sam Ssimbwa, came into the game in second place, following Mbarara City's 1-0 win over Ndejje University on Thursday.

Kitara needed to win to return to the summit of the table, and they got the job done in the end.

Kitara's victory took them to 46 points, two ahead of second-placed Mbarara City FC in what is shaping out to be a hurtling chase for promotion.

Police FC, on the other hand, remain a slot outside of the promotion zone in fourth place on 40 points, only a point behind NEC who are in the final promotion place.

With seven games to go before the end of the season, four teams - Kitara, Mbarara City, NEC, and Police - are still in stiff competition for the three promotion slots to the Uganda Premier League.

Kitara travel to the Arean of Visions in Luweero to vist Ndejje university on April 6, while Police will look for an immediate reaction when they visit Soroti FC on April 13.
