Nelson Ssenkatuka hopes Soltilo Bright Stars 1-1 draw against URA FC can prove a turning point for their somewhat troubled start to StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.

In a rain-soaked battle at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Wednesday, Ssenkatuka’s late goal salvaged a crucial point for Bright Stars who are yet to win in three games this season.

“We have had a difficult start to the season, going by the opponents we have had to play,” Ssenkatuka admitted after the game.

“But we can remain positive in how we have performed and coming off the games with two points, we can build on that.”

Ssenkatuka, who opened his goal-scoring account this season against the same URA FC, expressed his satisfaction.

“It’s special for me to get off the mark, and hopefully, we can push on as a team, score more goals, and get our first victory of the season.”

“I am always happy to lead the team, I want to help the team by scoring goals because that is my role.”

Last season, Ssenkatuka also made his mark against URA FC, and this year, he seems to have continued the tradition of finding the net against them.

URA FC had taken an early lead through Ivan Ahimbisibwe's header, appearing to be in control.

As the game progressed, heavy rain transformed the pitch conditions, making ball movement challenging for both sides.

Bright Stars will look back with regret at chances that went begging earlier in the game, including a shot over the bar by David Kizza and a headed effort by John Kokas that went wide.

With two points from three matches, Bright Stars now set their sights on their next encounter against Express at Wankulukuku stadium.

URA FC, on the other hand, secured five points in the league and will host Wakiso Giants at Mehta Stadium in their upcoming fixture.
