SportPesa's Tujiamini Initiative has came out to support the rehabilitation and clean up of the Ngong River in the wake of devastating floods that have wreaked havoc.
Following the destructive aftermath of recent floods that have ravaged low-lying communities across the country, the Tujiamini Initiative, supported by SportPesa, has stepped forward to aid in the rehabilitation and cleanup efforts along the Ngong River in Nairobi's Nyayo Highrise Ward.
Teaming up with Empowering The Community (ETCO), an environmental activist group, and various humanitarian agencies, Tujiamini mobilized residents and volunteers to assist in restoring the river's health along a one-kilometer stretch by clearing debris and flotsam that had accumulated downstream as a result of the floods.
Additionally, a tree planting initiative was organized to commemorate National Tree Planting Day, paying tribute to the lives lost due to flooding in various parts of the country.

Founder of ETCO, Collince Onyango, who also happens to be a Nondies Rugby Player, highlighted the environmental risks posed by flooding, such as river blockage due to the accumulation of debris, which significantly impacts communities along the river.
"We have witnessed unprecedented flooding and backflow affecting families along the river," stated Onyango.
"In the face of this devastation, with lives, homes, schools, and businesses affected, environmental concerns may not take precedence.
"However, initiating cleanup efforts and reducing risks such as disease transmission due to blocked waterways can swiftly contribute to restoring the affected communities' well-being."
