Kenya's U-17 squad is buzzing with anticipation as they prepare for the CECAFA AFCON U-17 qualifiers, set to take place later this month in Kampala, Uganda.
Among the promising talents is Roy Mutimba, a US-based Kenyan defensive prospect, who has expressed his excitement about donning the national colors.
"I am delighted for this opportunity to be able to represent Kenya at the upcoming AFCON U-17 qualifiers in Kampala, Uganda," Mutimba shared on his YouTube channel. "I am fully committed to giving my best effort and making our country proud. Thank you for all the support."
The Junior Stars are in Group B alongside Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan, with their campaign kicking off on December 15, 2024, against South Sudan at Nakivubo Hamz Stadium. Subsequent matches will see them face Somalia on December 18 and Sudan on December 20, with the latter taking place at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium.
The squad, which began its training camp on December 2, will depart for Uganda on December 10, ready to secure Kenya's spot in the continental championship.

About SPIRE Academy
SPIRE Academy, where Mutimba trains, continues to champion youth development through sports. In April 2025, the academy will host a three-day SPIRE Multi-Sports Camp at Nova Pioneer in Eldoret City, Kenya.
The camp, open to athletes aged 11-16 years, will offer expert coaching, multi-sport experiences, and state-of-the-art facilities.
Young athletes will have the chance to enhance their skills, build friendships, and nurture their love for sports. The camp runs from April 7 to April 11, 2025, with registration costing Ksh22,500.
