After finishing fourth, the club has identified experienced defenders to help them chase titles in the future.

Singida Big Stars have identified Yannick Bangala of Yanga SC as their preferred partner for Joash Onyango at the heart of defense.

The Big Stars remain ambitious and want to challenge for honours in Tanzania. They have been recruiting experienced players, and now their eyes are set on Onyango and Bangala.

Both Onyango and Bangala are Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions, with the former doing so at Simba three seasons ago while the latter is the current champion with Yanga.

According to Mwanaspoti, Big Stars officials have already approached both Yanga and Simba for the two defenders, as they remain their primary targets in the transfer window.

Although Onyango has refuted the claims that he might leave Wekundu wa Msimbazi after being part of them for the last three seasons, rumours of his possible departure have refused to die.

Fountain Gate, as the club will be known next season, are said to have held internal talks for three days in Dar es Salaam and resolved to pursue Onyango and Bangala.

Given their experience at the international level, the two defenders are seen as valuable additions for the club that will take part in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Onyango has been a regular starter for Simba in their Champions League campaign and has been outstanding, especially in his first two seasons.

He conceded errors that proved costly last season, and this put him on the receiving end of criticism from fans and pundits.

Bangala, on the other hand, had an impressive season with Timu ya Wananchi, who reached the Confederation Cup's ultimate stage only to lose the final to the USM Alger of Algeria.

Further reports indicate Fountain Gate are confident they can sign Onyango and Bangala because the two are rumoured not to be comfortable at their respective clubs.
