In shocking transfer developments, Manchester United and Newcastle have reportedly emerged as the possible destinations for Sadio Mane, with Bayern desperate to offload him after an indifferent season.
The African Player of the Year only joined the German giants before the start of the current season in a £ 27.4 million deal from Liverpool.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern is expected to sell Mane this summer following a troubled campaign, where he has only scored 12 goals across all competitions.
The ugliest part of his stint had him punch teammate Leroy Sane following the club's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final in April.
More reports in Germany have suggested only Premier League clubs are likely to be able to afford Mane's £ 17.4 million annual salary, with Man United having the most potential to part with the fee.
The link comes amid doubts over Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial's roles within the team. They are also in the market searching for at least two top attackers.
On the other hand, Newcastle presents a realistic option for Mane, with the Magpies likely to seek reinforcements ahead of potential Champions League football.
With their hugely wealthy Saudi Arabian owners, Mane's wages may not be a stumbling block for the transfer.
In addition, he would offer both Premier League and European football experience.
Meanwhile, making a return to Liverpool is hugely unlikely, as they have already heavily invested in the forward areas; £44m for Cody Gakpo and £85m for Darwin Nunez in one season.
It, however, awaits to be seen whether Liverpool will watch on as Mane joins their most bitter nemesis Manchester United.
