Kariobangi Sharks were pinned back all match by Robert Matano's Tusker, but managed to force a valuable point against the 'historic' 12-time league champions.

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has challenged his side to capitalize on every chances they get this season to win after failing to bag all three points against Tusker in a match played at the Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday.

Sharks scored their goal from a half-chance in the second half through Keith Musamali, but Tusker, who were the front-footed side on the day, forced back a goal to secure a draw, although they should have won the match had they taken their chances.

“We expected a win. In the first half, we had some chances especially in the first half that had we converted, we would have won,” Muluya said.

“We went to the dressing room at half time at 0-0. We managed to get the goal in the second half but we were not able to defend it because their pressure made us crumble a little.

Muluya was quick to give Tusker its due respect, describing it as a club with ‘a big history’ and one that has achieved a lot, appearing to hint that he was happy with the draw.

“When you are playing against Tusker, you are not playing against a small team especially considering the players they have. They are a team with a lot of history.

“They finished second in the previous season. Getting a chance against Tusker, you have to utilize it and in the first five minutes, we had a chance we should have buried.

“We did not require a lot of chances to get a goal against Tusker. When you play against them or against any other team during this season that we just started, you have to use your chances, even if it is just one or two in order to put your team ahead.”

Sharks have now secured two points from two games , having frustrated Kenya Police to a draw in their opening round of fixtures.

They will face KCB in their first match of the season after the international break this month.
