The favourites at the National Schools Football championships kickstarted their campaigns on a high.
St. Henry College Kitovu assumed control of Group A after their 5-0 victory over Bishop Comboni College.
The win took them ahead of St. Mary’s Kitende, who beat Tororo Town College 4-0 in the tournament's opening game.
In Group B, London College Nansana started the tournament on the top after their 3-1 victory against Nyakasura School.
London College is tied on three points with Bishop Angero Negri College and Sironko Progressive who were 2-1 and 1-0 over Ryakasinga Che and Mengo SS.
Group D, which had been touted to be the pool of death, proved that as four teams, Old Kampala, Jinja SSS, St. Joseph College Layibi and Standard High School Zana, won their games.
Old Kampala beat Bukedea Comprehensive 3-1, Jinja SSS scored 2-0 over Nakwasi Seed, St. Joseph’s College Layibi edged St. Kagwa 2-1 and Standard High School Zana brushed St. Kalemba SS 1-0.
2009 and 2018 winners Buddo SS took charge of Group E with a 2-0 win over Mbale Progressive and in Group G and F, Jinja Progressive and Royal Giants Mityana lead the way.
