Shabana take on Tusker keen to secure a rare double with coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo hoping to extinguish his former side’s slim title aspirations

Shabana FC and Tusker FC are hoping to return to winning ways as they face off in an FKF Premier League clash at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Sunday.

Both teams have gone two games without a win which has slowed their respective ambitions with Shabana now stuck in the relegation places while Tusker’s title charge has been pegged back.

Shabana go into the match as the underdogs given they are just back into the Premier League after a 17-year wait but they will be encouraged by the fact that their first win this season was against Rober Matano’s men.

Tore Bobe recorded a 1-0 victory over the Brewers on October 6 but it is just one of the four that they have managed in 20 matches so far this season, showing just how it has been a campaign of struggle for the Glamour Boys.

Shabana also have former Tusker FC coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo who was installed last month to help save them from the drop and he will keen to get one over his former employers.

Tore Bobe’s last two games saw them lose 1-0 to Ulinzi Stars before a barren draw with Nairobi City Stars, a match Pamzo drew so many positives from, and he will hope that the chances created will be utilised this time.

Tusker, however, will not be pushovers even if they have lost back-to-back matches against Gor Mahia and Bidco United.

Matano’s men had put together a five-game winning run before Gor Mahia stopped them but they failed to capitalise on K’Ogalo’s loss last weekend and with the league leaders drawing with Ulinzi Stars on Saturday, they have a chance to at least move to within 10 points with a win on Sunday.

Tusker are sixth on the table with 31 points but maximum points against 17th-placed Shabana can see them join Kenya Police and Bandari on 34 and put pressure on Gor Mahia in the final 14 games of the season.
